Yep...lets shut them down today! Of course we should also shut down all refineries and all the process units that crack natural gas into other products since they also use tremendous amount of energy as. I know: I worked as a refinery operator for years. In addition, let's not let the coal fired generating units off the hook. They are huge producers of CO2. Just think, with coal and petroleum products banned we won't have to worry about automobile pollution, nor the pollution from steel mills or mineral smelters since they won't be able to operate without fuel. I do have some slight concern about what we will use as lubricants for our water and wind powered electrical generation since they are petroleum based. I guess we can go back to using horses on our farms to feed the unemployed living in the cold and dark, but transporting and processing the crops may be a bit of a problem. But, who cares...we will have achieved or Utopian paradise.
I am working on the assumption, however, that your target is all the polluting enterprises and not just Alberta's oil sands. If not, then I would suggest that your complaint isn't aimed at polution in general, but only at the fact that Alberta's prosperity sticks in your craw.
